We are fortunate to have several of the most  outstanding locations and facilities in the country for the  2008 Team Excel Summer Training Camps. Excel Wrestling will  run camps this summer in both Central Iowa  at Camp Dodge and Dubuque, IA at the Grand Harbor Resort.

Our Colorado Team Camp will again be in  Estes Park at the YMCA of the Rockies.

In June, we will run one 3 Day Excelerator Intensive Camp in Denver and the other in Estes Park at the YMCA of the Rockies! We will also return to the YMCA again in August for the Personal Training Camp.

For the eighth year in a row, we will also visit Hawaii  traveling to  both Maui and Oahu.   Last summer, we had a fantastic overseas trip to Germany, Italy, and Austria and hope to return to Europe in 2009.

Many of our Excel coaches have worked together for several years and teach on the highest technical levels in our sport.  Many have coached Division I college programs, US National and Olympic teams and take the same approach in working with our  Excel summer wrestlers.  Our staff demands  a high level of  intensity, relentless determination and the work ethic of a champion for every Excel summer camp wrestler.

Coach Knight is privileged to have back with him this summer, Excel's assistant camp director and  Junior Olympic Program coach, Rory O'Farrell. Rory was a Colorado State Champion and went to wrestle for Cornell College in Iowa.  He has competed overseas and now runs Excel's Wyoming Junior Olympic Program.  We will also have with us  this summer,  special guest and former Team Excel wrestler, World and Olympic Champion Kevin Jackson.  Kevin is the Head Coach  in Colorado Springs for the USAW National Teams in freestyle.  Recruited from our trip last summer to Germany is international standout Mahmoud Karimin.  Mahmoud comes from Germany where he competed for the German National Team and is now a member of their coaching staff.   We're also teaming up this summer with World Wrestling and University of Dubuque Head Coach and National Collegiate Champion Jon McGovern.  Jon also wrestled for Team Excel in the late '90's in preparation for the 2000 US Olympic trials.  Rounding out the staff will be Colorado great and Wisconsin NCAA All American and Big Ten Champ Tommy Clum, Iowa Excel Junior Olympic Program coach and  2 x ISU NCAA Champion Eric Voelker, US National Teams Coach and longtime Excel coach Mike McArthur and Team Excel's US National Freestyle Champion Ramico Blackmon.

We believe that quality time spent at  the 2008 Excel Summer Training Camps will stand as an important turning point and benchmark in your son's wrestling career.  We look forward to working with you  this summer!

Over the past 10 years, the Excel National Team Camps have hosted high school coaches and teams from more that 20 states.

In  early June of '08, some very tough midwest schools will come together for Excel's Iowa Team Camp.  This camp is limited to 12 teams only and will run from June 4th thru 7th on the campus of Camp Dodge, Iowa's only military training installation.  Camp Dodge is equipped with air conditioned lodging facilities and dining halls and the fee for the Iowa Team Camp includes both movie passes and a water park pass for the final day of camp.   We expect that every wrestler will compete in  at least ten matches.   Make plans now!

For years, we have hosted our Colorado Team Camp at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado.  At an elevation of 9000 ft.  with cabin accommodations, teams from many parts of the country join us to compete in this 16 to 20 team dual and individual tournament competition.  The YMCA of the Rockies is one of the most beautiful camp locations in the country,  positioned right at the base of the Rocky Mountain National Park, with  many outstanding facilities. Every summer, campers wrestle as many as 15 to 20 matches throughout the camp.

This summer's camp in Estes runs  June 22nd thru 25th.

We assist teams with scheduling whitewater rafting trips through our office, and making plans to attend a Rockies game or Elitch Garden's Six Flags Amusement Park in Denver each summer.

In  early July, our Hawaii Camp has always been a fantastic experience.  Over the past seven years, Excel Wrestling has held camps and clinics on Maui, Oahu and the Big Island and the annual team camp has drawn wrestlers from as many as five states.  Excel will host two July camps this summer in Hawaii.  One local camp for Maui wrestlers will be held on June 29th and 30th and our annual Excel Hawaii Team Camp will be held July 1st thru 4th in Honolulu on the island of Oahu.  Campers  at the Hawaii Team Camp get in a lot of technique, wrestle a minimum of 10 matches and still have plenty of beach time each day. Mainland teams are encouraged to attend.   Call the Excel Wrestling office for more information.

Our newest Iowa Team Camp will be held in Dubuque, IA, July 28 thru 31st, at the Grand Harbor Resort Hotel and Waterpark.  The Grand Harbor Resort has an indoor waterpark and will also house our competition area, lodging and meals.  We will run a 16 - 20 team format at this camp with both a team competition and individual tournament.

Under the auspices of USAW, Excel  Wrestling has been designated as an official US Junior Olympic Program within the framework of the Excel Year Round Training Programs.  The Excelerator 3 and 4 Day Technique/Intensive Camps are designed as an Olympic Development Program emulating the atmosphere and intensity of the US Olympic Training Center.   We will challenge mental toughness and intensity and reach new levels in every wrestler who attends.

Many of the Excel coaches have led US National and Olympic Teams and we strongly believe that the right work ethic and training regiments are critical in accomplishing success on the state and national levels.  Wrestlers at th ese camp s will be taught  high level techniques , as well as  sound fundamentals  focusing primarily on the feet in the neutral position.   Our target for this camp is  a high school  state championship. 

W e will not accept more than  48 middle school and high school wrestlers.  

Registration will be held to a first come, first served basis with all wrestlers being required to have either in-season or out of season state competition under their belts in order to apply.  A serious desire and commitment to work hard is mandatory to reach the next level of achievement! 

Coach Knight  take s a serious hands on approach at all the Excel Summer Training Camps and will be assisted this summer at the Excelerator Camps by  Colorado great and 2 x UW NCAA All American Tommy Clum.
